John E. “Jack” McNerney passed away peacefully in the early hours of May 2, 2022. He was 92 years young. Born on March 1, 1930, in Camillus, Jack was the youngest of four children born to the late Charles and Catherine McNerney.
A graduate of the former Camillus High School, he spent every summer growing up at the family camp on E. Lake Road, which is still in the family, and worked on the Skaneateles mailboat as a teenager.
Jack married the former Frances Drew at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church on July 11, 1953.
Jack had a few careers as a young father of six children. He worked as a milkman for Dairylea, and as a car salesman for Priest Chevrolet in Marcellus.
He bought his own dealership in Tully, Jack McNerney Chevrolet, in March 1970, and moved his family from Camillus to Tully. His sons and grandson run the business today. He was also a member of several organizations throughout his long career.
Always one to tell a good story or joke, he never met a stranger. If you were a friend to Jack, he never forgot you.
He leaves behind his loving wife Frances, daughters Patricia(Tom) Rouse, and Maureen (Peter) Flaherty, and sons Michael(Jan), Daniel, John (Michele) and Mark (Donna).
He also leaves behind to cherish endless memories 17 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church on May 6, with burial in Lake View Cemetery.
