Pilar S. Laird, 80, of Cazenovia, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022 at home with her sister and nieces by her side. Pilar was born November 25, 1941 in Madrid, Spain to Regino and Carmen Sanchez. She came to the United States in 1965 after marrying Carl E. Laird who was stationed in Madrid with the U.S. Air Force. Pilar retired from Continental Cordage after several years of service. She was a communicant of St. James Church and in her free time, she enjoyed traveling with her companion, Don Parisou, especially to Virginia Beach and Atlantic City. Pilar enjoyed socializing with her friends by visiting several casinos in the area.
She is survived by her inseparable twin sister, Carmen McCarthy of Cazenovia; her brother, Carlos (Juanita) Sanchez of Spain; her nieces and nephews, Dora Riedl of Cazenovia, Debra Conan of Syracuse, Carlos, Susanna, Veronica and Anna of Spain; her beloved Godson/nephew, Dylan Ryder as well as her great niece and great nephews, Dima Conan, Donald Conan and Joseph Riedl. In addition to her parents, Pilar was predeceased by her husband, Carl E. Laird; her daughter, Leslie A. Laird; her companion, Donald Parisou and by her brother, Fernando Sanchez.
There are no calling hours, private graveside services will be held in St. James Cemetery in Cazenovia. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Pilar’s memory may be made to CAVAC, 106 Nelson St., Cazenovia, NY 13035. Condolences for the family may be left at michaelebrownfuneralservices.com.
