Brian Daniel Wheeler, 74, of Fayetteville, passed away on Dec. 4, 2021, at the VA Hospital in Syracuse after a lengthy illness. Born Oct. 8, 1947, in Malone, N.Y., he was the son of the late Louis and Ethel Wheeler. He attended Ottawa University in Kansas and graduated from Syracuse University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. He then worked as a craftsman for Stickley and later as an executive for the Boy Scouts of America.
When not working or spending time with his family, Brian was a member of the Syracuse Sunrise Rotary, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Barry Wheeler.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Ellen Douglass Wheeler; daughter, Ashley (Brent) McCann of W. Henrietta, N.Y.; son, Daniel (Jennifer) Wheeler of Shavertown, PA; grandchildren, Koston McCann, Daniel Wheeler II, Jakob Wheeler and Anna Wheeler; sister, Barbara Vradenburg of Clarksville, TN; brother-in-law, Mark (Yukyong) Douglass of Georgia; sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Dave) Crockett of Nevada and New York and Kathy (George) Dailey of New Hampshire; and six nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with military honors will be held in the summer of 2022 at the Madison Street Cemetery in Hamilton, N.Y.
