Joan Pfaff Cornett, age 87, passed away on Sep. 22, 2021. ‘Joanie’ was born in Binghamton, N.Y., in 1934. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary Pfaff of Fayetteville. Joan grew up in the DeWitt, Fayetteville – Manlius area, graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1952 and then attended Cortland State Teachers College.
Joan’s family moved from Manlius to New Hampshire in 1971. She loved music and joined the Amoskeag Strummers Banjo Band, performing for many years throughout New England. She was most noted for her ‘spoon’ playing and joyful smile. She was also a member of the Hooksett Entertainers group that performed for long term care facilities. Joan further enjoyed volunteering as a member of the NH Ambassadors at the Manchester Airport.
Joan obtained her Real Estate Brokers license in 1980 and was a member of the NH Board of Realtors. In addition to selling real estate, Joan worked as a receptionist in a dental office. Surviving family include daughters Corinne Pullen of Canterbury NH and Cheryl Fimbel of Bozeman, Montana, her son Scott Cornett of Milford, NH, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Joan was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Robert Scott Cornett.
Joanie was the embodiment of the word ‘Joyful’. Her greatest joy was her family, her passion was music, and her riches were her friends.
A celebration of Joan’s life will be held on October 13th in Canterbury, NH. Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
