Barbara “Barbie” Diane Miller, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 20, 2021, in Morganton, NC. She was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and friend to many.
Barbara was the firstborn child to John and Dorothy Kinney on December 4, 1952, in Rutland, VT. Not long after, her family moved to Norwalk, CT, where she grew up. Shortly after graduating from Norwalk High School in 1971, she worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Norwalk Credit Bureau. There she met James Miller who she married and went on to have two children, Kerriann and Erik. They settled in a small town in upstate NY, called Skaneateles, where she lived for 24 years. She moved to New Jersey for a few years and eventually relocated to Massachusetts to be closer to her family. In her retirement, she had recently decided to move to North Carolina to enjoy the warmer weather she loved so much.
Over the years, Barbara was very active in the communities she lived in, including volunteering her time at senior centers. She had a big heart and was always willing to help others in need. She also enjoyed spending as much time as she could outside, she loved going for long walks and gardening. She enjoyed reading and traveling but above all she loved spending time with her family. Her greatest joy was becoming a grandmother. She loved her grandchildren more than anything and they loved when Nana would come visit. Her unconditional love, thoughtfulness, sense of humor and smile will be deeply missed.
Barbara will lovingly be remembered by her two children, Kerriann (Miller) Kreuz, Erik Miller; the father of her two children James Miller; her grandchildren, Owen Kreuz, Olivia Kreuz, Conor Kreuz, Bella Miller and Tyler Miller; her brother Scott Kinney, Debra Kinney (predeceased); her cousins Cindi Woodger, Glenn Woodger and Vicki Bovie.
Barbara’s family is planning a private memorial service in CT in early June with more information to follow.
