On Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, Grieg Thomas Dougherty, beloved father, passed away in Tampa, FL, with his wife Jill at his side. Grieg, born Nov. 17, 1960 in Rochester, N.Y., to Alson and Elizabeth Dougherty, received his bachelor’s degree in agricultural business from Cornell University in 1986. He was a hardworking and well-respected commodities merchant for more than 30 years. Grieg also served as a judge of horticulture at the New York State Fair for Cornell Cooperative Extension for more than two decades.
As director of the Skaneateles Lakeshore Baseball League, Grieg shared his zeal for sports and his talent for coaching for many years. A devoted friend and avid outdoorsman, countless hours were spent with lifelong friends hunting, fishing, camping and four wheeling in his beloved Upstate New York home.
Grieg had charm, charisma and an uncompromising work ethic. He was a skilled learner, lover of wildlife, horticulture, art and astronomy. He loved to share is passion for good music, food and drink.
Grieg was predeceased by his father, Alson. He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth, two sisters, Alexandra and Sarah, his former wife, Michelle, his three children Genevieve, John and William, his two grandsons, Jeremiah and Luca, and his four nieces, Julia, Stephanie, Ashley and Brooke.
All are welcome to attend the memorial service at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 5, at Owasco Reformed Church.
