Barbara Vinton Richardson, 88, of North Syracuse, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 7, 2020.
Barbara was a direct descendant of French Huguenots. Her ancestors fled to America in 1641, first settling in Massachusetts and later generations emigrating to Navarino, N.Y. Barbara was born on Jan. 31, 1932, in Syracuse. She was a graduate of North High School. Barbara married Dr. Robert L. Richardson at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Syracuse on July 13, 1957. They settled into the Pitcher Hill area of North Syracuse where they lived for 56 years and raised six sons. Bob and Barbara celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary last summer.
Barbara was a homemaker. She loved animals, gardening in the backyard, enjoying her morning cup of coffee with friends at Wegmans on Taft Road and spending time with her family.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents Harry and Edna Vinton, by her brother Harry S. Vinton, Jr,. and by her son, Neil Richardson. She is survived by her husband, of 62 years, Robert; by her sons, Eric (Stephany) Richardson, Steven (Colleen) Richardson, Kurt (Sarah) Richardson, all of Liverpool, Paul (Margaret) Richardson of Camillus, Scott (Melissa) Richardson of Syracuse; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2020, at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd., Syracuse. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020, at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 873 DeWitt St., (off Grant Boulevard) and burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery on Grant Boulevard.
