Cathleen Dupont (Kirk) Waibel of Railyard, County Kilkenney, Ireland, Cazenovia, Sanibel Island, SC, Rockwall, TX, and Danfuskie Island, SC, passed away on Nov. 14, 2019, at the age of 90. She was born on Nov. 21, 1928 to Charles Dupont and Annie (Corry) Kirk in Cleveland, OH. After graduating high school, Cathleen went to secretarial school in New York City. She married William Joseph Waibel on Nov. 18, 1951, in New Jersey.
Cathleen worked as a co-owner with her husband, William of The Fireplace Shop in Camillus for 10 years. She also worked as realtor when they moved to Rockwall, Texas, in the 1980s.
Upon William retiring, they traveled the world. Cathleen and William lived in many different states, finally settling in South Carolina. She loved life and making others happy. Cathleen enjoyed her family and friends, travel, genealogy, languages, cooking and raising black Labradors. She was active in all her communities in clubs and charitable associations. Cathleen enjoyed sports including golf, tennis, beach activities, dancing and socializing. She was a great entertainer for family and friends. Cathleen loved reading any type of novel she could get her hands on and would read it eagerly. She also loved to play bridge with family and friends. More than anything, Cathleen loved her children and her husband and was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Cazenovia for 20 years.
Cathleen is survived by her daughters, Deborah Ann Witherspoon of San Diego, CA, and Jennifer Ruth Hampton and husband, David of Wylie, TX; sons, Curtis Dupont Waibel and husband, Patrick Watson of Melbourne, Australia and William Kirk Waibel and wife, Robin of Roswell, GA; granddaughters, Heather Ann Smith and husband, Jacob of Sachse, TX, and Katelyn Kirk Witherspoon of San Diego, CA; grandsons, William Andrew Waibel and Matthew Kirk Waibel both of Roswell, GA; and numerous other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by parents, Charles and Annie Kirk, her husband, William Joseph Waibel and son-in-law, Kent Witherspoon.
A memorial graveside inurnment is planned for a later date at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
