Grace L. (Moran) Ward, 90, of Manlius, passed away on Sept. 5, 2019. She was born in Scranton, PA, the seventh of the 11 children of Joseph and Nellie (Tigue) Moran.
In 1941 her family moved to Sloatsburg, N.Y., where she was a graduate of Suffern High School. In 1963 her husband’s transfer with Carrier Corporation brought her to Fayetteville, where Grace was a Girl Scout volunteer, president of the Fayetteville Antiques Club and a choir member at Immaculate Conception Church. She served as a Norwich University Admissions Volunteer with her alumni husband Eugene for over 30 years.
In later life she was a winter resident of Myrtle Beach, SC, and amassed a vast shell collection while getting her exercise walking miles of beach.
Grace is survived by her husband of 69 years, Eugene Ward; children Sandy, Gregg, and Stephen (Robin) Ward; grandsons Jerel, Andrew, and Myles Ward; her sister Alice Kakareka; sister-in-law Kathy Moran; and 22 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Mary Moran, Helen Zawaski and Kitty Ferke, and brothers Joseph, James, Eugene, Gerald, Paul and Frank Moran.
