Betty Noyes Hopkinson died on April 19, 2019, after a long illness. She is survived by her six children, their spouses, 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren: Jonathan and Barbara Hopkinson of Olathe, KS; David and Debra Hopkinson of Hartford, CT; Wendy Hopkinson and Mark Ferreira of Schenectady, NY; Heidi and Bob Escobar of Liverpool, NY; William Hopkinson of Manlius; Harold and Donna Hopkinson of West Bloomfield, MI.
Betty was predeceased by her husband of nearly 70 years, Harold H. Hopkinson Jr. Harold and Betty were born in 1928 in Northern Maine. Betty grew up in Limestone, ME, the daughter of Josiah M. Noyes, a farmer, and Merle Beckwith Noyes, a teacher. The couple moved to Manlius when Hop came to work at Carrier Corporation.
Always active in the Manlius community, Betty was a founding member of the Spade & Trowel Garden Club and supported Harold’s tenure as a village board member for over 50 years. She took part in the Manlius Historical Society, and the Monday Evening Club. Betty became a master flower show judge and loved to teach others her love of flower arranging. Betty sewed beautiful clothing and quilts.
Betty valued family, lifelong learning, and the beauty of nature.
