Clyde G. Sartwell, Sr., 94, of Cicero, N.Y., passed away with loving family at his side after a long struggle with Alzheimers.
He is predeceased by his father, Floyd Sartwell, and his mother, Hannah (Brown) Sartwell; his beloved son, Clyde Sartwell, Jr.; his first love and mother of five children, Bertha (Priest) Curfman; his second love, Norma Wolcott, who recently passed away.
Survivors include his son, David (Cookie) Curfman; daughters, Donna Monica, Sharon (Jeff) Hudson and Millie Hagerman; his loving daughter-in-law, Elaine Sartwell; 29 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Clyde grew up in Baldwinsville on River Road where he could be found working on the farm, riding his horse to and from his one room schoolhouse, swimming in the river and jumping off the Old Belgium Bridge into the Seneca River. He proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army as an airplane mechanic. Clyde was an avid racer, often to be found with his friends, George Gratton, Dick Banks, Cliff McCormick and Joe Ceratt. They later owned a camp together in Woodgate, NY called The 4 Aces. He was a proud member of the South Shore Rod and Gun Club, where he could be often found skeet shooting and playing cards. The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of CNY and his aide, Sue.
Interment will be at Richland Cemetery, Richland, N.Y.
