Mary Albanese
CON/AES
Candidate for Trustee
Occupation: Teacher at East Syracuse Elementary for past 16 years
How will your experience serve you in government?
I am a lifelong village resident who truly cares about where I live. The village is my home for life! As a teacher, our kids deserve a great place to grow up that is safe and has plenty of things for them to do. I will work tirelessly to provide for all residents. I have been on the Village Board for the past four years. I have worked closely with the parks department, DPW and fire department. I have formed good working relationships with all department heads and residents.
What do you think are the biggest challenges in your community?
Safety and security, enhancement of our parks, and communication
What are your ideas for addressing these challenges?
For safety and security, I would work to have added police presence in the village, more involvement in the neighborhood watch and more involvement from residents altogether.
When it comes to enhancing our parks, we have the BEST parks program in the area. Just the amount of events that are offered for kids all the way to seniors. I would like to see more interest and events for the teens and then come up with a way to get them involved.
I would also like to see a village newsletter started that would be mailed to each resident. It would include a blurb from each department. That way, village residents can get a feel about what’s going on.
