Village to monitor traffic flow on S. Burdick Street

Pat Massett, who has served the village of Fayetteville for 40 years, is stepping down from his position as superintendent of the department of public works.
At Monday’s meeting of the Fayetteville board of trustees, Massett’s heartfelt resignation letter was read into the minutes.
He is stepping down from the department’s top post to spend more time with his family.
Massett will remain in the department in a part-time capacity for the next year and a half.
Trustee Dan Kinsella said that hiring Massett was one of the great decisions he made in his long tenure with the village, and the rest of the board also offered their thanks and congratulations.
“You’ve made it look easy, and I know it wasn’t,” said Mayor Mark Olson.
Fayetteville resident Marguerite Ross called into the meeting to offer her praise to Massett as well.
“I love the service that Pat Massett provides,” she said. “He has a wonderful attitude of public service.”
S. Burdick Street traffic
The board will look into complaints of a growing traffic problem on S. Burdick Street in the lower village. Trustee Mike Small reported that residents of the area have noticed an increase in traffic as people use the narrow road as a cut through from E. Genesee Street to Highbridge Street.
The village will monitor traffic flow on the street and will discuss the topic at its next meeting after compiling more data on usage.
Until a few years ago, southern end of the road was only available to northbound traffic.
