To the editor:
On Aug. 1, 2019, the North Syracuse Zoning Board approved an area variance from Twin Trees III (Louis Rescignano) for the proposed expansion along the side of the restaurant facing Maxwell Avenue.
Although this variance is a relevant piece of the puzzle, it is not the greater picture. The proposed plan is to add almost 40 new parking spots to the restaurant and to create a driveway that cuts across on to the residential block of Gertrude Street.
There is an endless list of issues that will arise from this plan and I hope the North Syracuse Planning Commission can understand and value the collective needs and concerns of its village residents instead of trying to appease one individual. Regardless of what perceived commercial advantage the proposed changes might have for one particular local business, the neighborhood affected by this expansion will suffer because of it.
I look forward to seeing my fellow neighbors at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, for the North Syracuse Planning Commission meeting — being held at the North Syracuse Community Center on South Bay Road.
