Voters in the village of North Syracuse selected two new trustees in the June 18 election and reelected the mayor and deputy mayor.
Mayor Gary Butterfield, the Republican incumbent, received 265 votes. Butterfield ran unopposed. He was first elected mayor in 2015 and served on the Village Board of Trustees from 2005 to 2015.
Christopher R. Strong, a Republican, ran unopposed for a two-year term to fill a vacancy. He received 226 votes. Strong will fill the seat of Trustee Art Steere, who was appointed to the board in August 2018 to fill the seat of former Trustee Chuck Henry. Steere opted not to run to keep the seat.
Village voters also selected candidates for four-year terms.
Fred Wilmer, a Republican, was elected to the board with 172 votes.
Diane Browning, incumbent trustee, received 156 votes. Browning, who is the village’s deputy mayor, ran on the Democratic and Good Neighbors party lines.
Incumbent Trustee Pat Gustafson and challenger Douglas Hummel were not elected.
Gustafson, who ran on the Democratic and Good Neighbors party lines, received 150 votes. Douglas Hummel, a Republican, received 131 votes.
