To the editor:
The Lysander Town Board is in desperate need of a change. We need town councilors who will carefully consider how each decision they make will affect the citizens that live in the town of Lysander. We need councilors who will look at these issues from all angles and spend time carefully researching and reviewing policies. We need diversity of thinking on the board and not continuous agreement on all town issues. We need to avoid the “group think” (i.e., group of people in which the desire for harmony or conformity in the group results in dysfunctional decision making outcomes) that seems to be happening with the current board. We need people with different backgrounds who can critically evaluate and discuss policies before voting on them. We need town councilors who will consider immediate and long-term consequences of the decisions they make. We need town councilors who are passionate about making our town a better place for not only us but also our children and grandchildren.
For all of these reasons, I wholeheartedly support Gail Tosh and Kevin Rode for town councilors. They are willing to ask the hard questions. They are dedicated to making sure that our town is a better place for all citizens. They are fiscally responsible. They are committed to keeping taxes low for the hard working people of Lysander. They are willing to listen to the people of the town and make decisions that are best for them.
Kevin and Gail regularly attend town board meetings. At these meetings, they are well-prepared and educated on the issues and also actively listening to the concerns of their fellow Lysander citizens. They aren’t afraid to stand up to the current board members to disagree with their points and support their Lysander neighbors.
Gail Tosh and Kevin Rode are the change that the town of Lysander needs. Please come out to vote on Nov. 7 and vote for change.
