The village of East Syracuse along with ACR Health will be holding a Narcan educational event at on Thursday, May 4 in order to help inform local residents on how to administer the drug in the event of an opioid overdose.
Naloxone, commonly sold under the brand name Narcan, is a drug that is administered during an opioid drug overdose that blocks the deadly effects. ACR Health will have a representative on hand to show attendees how to administer the drug, as well as to answer questions.
“The problem of addiction really is everywhere,” said Village Trustee Janet Mattox. “If we can help save just one life by holding this event, then it will be worth it.”
The event is free and no pre-registration is required. The event will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 4 at the East Syracuse Municipal Building, 204 N. Center St., East Syracuse. For more information, call the village office at 315-437-3541.
