Village of North Syracuse Deputy Mayor Chuck Henry announced his candidacy for mayor April 27. Henry, a Republican, is looking to succeed Mayor Mark Atkinson, who is retiring. Former mayor Diane Browning and Pat Gustafson will run for the board of trustees. Henry said the group plans to build on Atkinson’s track record of low tax increases and support of local business. “The three of us are looking forward to serving the village as well as Mayor Atkinson has done,” Henry said. Henry made his campaign announcement in front of the former post office on Main Street, which Syracuse Realty is converting into a complex of upscale apartments.
