Cicero’s former deputy supervisor Tim Burtis was sworn in as county legislator Jan. 23 by Onondaga County Family Court Judge Michael Hanuszczak. Burtis was appointed by County Executive Joanne Mahoney to fill the term of Jim Corl Jr., who is leaving the legislature for a position as principal court attorney for Hanuszczak. “It’s an exciting day for the legislature to have a full house again,” Legislature Chairman Ryan McMahon said. Burtis said he is “deeply grateful to represent the people of the third district.” After being sworn in, Burtis thanked his family and paid tribute to his late grandparents. “I carry them with me today and I hope that they’re proud,” Burtis said.
