During its first meeting of the new year, the Cazenovia Town Board last week approved its annual organizational appointments for the town government.
The appointments were nearly identical to those made in 2014, and some of the major appointments made were: Pat Race as deputy supervisor, Tim Hunt as town highway superintendent, John Langey as town attorney, Roger Cook as zoning and codes enforcement officer, Elizabeth Merrill as bookkeeper and Sarah Dennis as secretary to the town supervisor and water districts collector. Susan Wightman was appointed as first deputy town clerk, first deputy registrar of vital statistics, planning and zoning clerk, planning board secretary and zoning board of appeals secretary.
Reappointed as chairs of the town’s municipal boards were Anastasia Urtz for planning board, Chris Fischer for ZBA and Damian Vanetti for Cazenovia Area Conservation Commission.
Seven members to the town’s municipal boards were appointed as well, including Tom Pratt to a seven-year term to the planning board; Richard Sheridan to a five-year term to the ZBA; Catherine Taylor to a five-year term to the Board of Assessment Review; and Paul Curtin, Gerald Rasmussen, Carlos Gavilondo and Damien Vanetti all to two-year terms on the CACC.
The town board meeting schedule will remain at 7:30 p.m. the second Monday of each month, except during October and November, which will be the first Monday of the month due to state budgetary requirements; board work sessions will continue to be held the Wednesday preceding the monthly meeting day.
Copies of the complete list of 2015 town appointments can be obtained and read at the town office.
Also at the meeting, the board:
—Announced that the board’s February monthly meeting will be held at the New Woodstock Fire Station, located at 2632 Mill St. in New Woodstock, and not at the town office on Albany Street as usual. The meeting will occur at the regular time and date: 7:30 p.m. on the second Monday of the month, which is Feb. 9.
—Announced that the town has been awarded a Common Grounds Challenge Grant of $6,500 for the creation of a micro hydro-electric project to generate electricity. The board authorized the supervisor to execute the grant agreement and also to release the $3,250 in matching funds required under the terms of the grant.
—Welcomed Sarah Dennis as the new secretary to the town supervisor and water districts collector. Dennis replaces Barbara Howland, who left her position in November after serving as secretary to the supervisor for the past six years.
—Continued the public hearings on both the proposed town noise ordinance and proposed special events law until the board’s next meeting on Feb. 9.
—Approved a new filing fee for special districts at $150, which is “more in-line” with town costs, said Supervisor Bill Zupan.
