DeWitt Chief of Police John Anton reports that on Jan. 3, 2020 at about 1:14 a.m., the DeWitt Police Department was dispatched to the area of North Street near West Manlius Street in the Village of East Syracuse for multiple reports of shots fired.
DeWitt Police responded to the area and did not find anyone injured or reported to be shot at. Officers spoke with a witness who reported that a black male was seen running on North Street, got into a gray sedan and left the area. DeWitt Police Officers observed a similar vehicle in the area, matching the description and conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle. The occupants denied being involved in the incident.
This is an ongoing investigation and the DeWitt Police Department will be following up on any and all leads that present themselves.
