Cazenovia — Cazenovia Police Chief Michael Hayes has issued a statement concerning the alleged stabbing that occurred in the village on Sunday, Feb. 7. According to Hayes, the investigation continues, a suspect has been identified and an arrest warrant should be issued next week for that suspect.
The incident involved two Cazenovia College students that received multiple stab wounds. Both students were treated at area hospitals and released and are back at Cazenovia College.
The suspect fled the Cazenovia area and does not live in Madison County, Hayes stated.
More leads are being investigated in this and a separate case involving criminal mischief to an area store. Both cases should have successful conclusions shortly, Hayes stated.
Hayes said he would like to thank the New York State Police and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance the night of the incident.
“The Cazenovia Police Department has been working this case jointly with Cazenovia College Campus Safety and Cazenovia College. This investigation would not have been as successful without the cooperation of the college and the professional staff in Campus Safety,” he said.
At this time no further information can be released as this is still an active investigation.
