Cazenovians take ribbons at New York State Fair

Area residents win awards in arts and crafts, fine arts and cooking

The New York State Fair has ended its annual two-week run, and among the myriad state residents who have won ribbons in competitions in everything from arts and crafts to cooking to fine arts and livestock, a number of Cazenovians have claimed prizes.

As of press time, ribbon winners from the Cazenovia area of whom we are aware include:

 

Richard Marchant

  • Best of Show, Fine Arts competition
  • Second place, fine arts, graphics/drawing

 

Ralph Beard, Jr.

  • Second place, photography, black and white or color photos

 

Julie Mattina

  • Third place ribbon, accessories for home
  • First place, stuffed animal or toy
  • First place, garments for infant or child
  • Third place, hanging Christmas tree ball ornament

Nancy Sellers

  • Fourth place ribbon, miniature quilt

 

Susan Reeve

  • Third place ribbon, culinary, barbecue beans.
  • Second place, culinary, King Arthur

 

Beth Broadway won four ribbons at the Home and Arts building:

  • Hand knitted socks
  • Hand knitted woman’s summer blouse
  • Quilt – Butterflies
  • Quilt – Mocha-Scrappe’

 

Cynthia Bell

  • Second place, artistic design, show 1, “Our Hometown – Fabulous Festival”
  • Second place, artistic design, show 2, “Things to see – May Garden, Tea Time”

 

Elizabeth Koennecke

  • Fourth place, artistic design, show 1, “NY, NY – sidewalk café”
  • Third place, artistic design, show 2, “Things to see – Maine Lobster Fest”

 

Sarah Peckham Sack

  • Second place, artistic design, show 2, “Things to see – Hudson Valley Shakespeare Fest”

 

Annamarie Ramirez

  • Third place, artistic design, show 2, “Things to see – Mystic Seaport regatta, Into the Breeze”
  • Third place, artistic design, show 2, “Things to see – In the Cottage Garden, Nature’s Beauties”

 

Kai Maier

  • Second place, artistic design, show 2, “Things to see – Youth – Disney World, Enter the Magic Kingdon”

  • Fifth place, Open Horse show, section 1, as rider of CFA Aurora, owned by Kathryn ER. Merrick, of Jamesville, in the Arabian Sport Horse class.

  • 21st place, livestock competition, winter heifer calf
