Four Cazenovia High School students have been selected for New York State Conference All–State Music Ensembles — Katelyn Hale, a senior clarinetist, was selected for the Symphonic Band; juniors Megan Schwartz and Zach Simms were selected for Mixed Chorus and Shao Demynettenaere, also a junior, for Women’s Choir.
The students will rehearse with esteemed conductors and other top student musicians from throughout New York state during the annual winter conference of the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) to be held from Dec. 1 through 4, in Rochester. The groups will perform in concert at the acclaimed Eastman Theatre.
Hale is a member of Cazenovia’s High School Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Concert Choir and Chamber Choir. Schwartz is a member of the Concert Choir, Chamber Choir and Wind Ensemble. Simms participates in Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Orchestra and String Ensemble, and Demynettenaere is in Concert Choir and Women’s Choir. All are members the High School Drama Club.
Students are selected for Conference All–State ensembles based upon NYSSMA Solo scores received at the Zone 3 NYSSMA Solo Festival. Those accepted have been ranked by the judges and identified as the top solo performers from each zone.
