Planning is an act of love for yourself and your loved ones and can help to reduce stress during an incredible challenge stage of life. During this session, Susan Sweeney, Certified End of Life Doula with EndWell CNY will cover topics such as advance directives, healthcare proxies and how to communicate your wishes to loved ones
Young Writer’s Club | Mondays, May 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd from 4:30 – 5:30 PM: If you have a child who loves to tell stories, join our Writer’s Club! Librarian Mary Beth will read a short story about writing at the beginning of each meeting and assign a prompt for the session. Children illustrate and tell their own stories with help from a caregiver. For ages 7 – 9 with an adult helper. Registration required.
Pokemon Battle Academy | Tuesdays, May 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th from 4:00 – 5:00 PM: Play Battle Academy at the library! Bring your own Pokemon cards or use the library’s supplies. This program is led by one of our Youth Ambassadors. Registration required. For ages 11 – 15.
My Neighborhood Story Time with Nessie | Thursday, May 4th at 10:30 AM: Meet therapy dog, Nessie and her handler during a very special story time. Librarian Mary Beth will read books and sing songs and then introduce the children to Nessie. For ages 2 – 5 with a caregiver.
The My Neighborhood Story Time series connects young children and their caregivers to the places, people, and animals in our neighborhood.
Getting Started with Libby! | Wednesday, May 3rd at 6:30 PM:
Whether you’re a student, a professional, or an avid reader, Libby is a great way to access thousands of books from the comfort of your phone or tablet. We’ll walk you through the basics of using Libby, including how to search for books and magazines, borrow and download them, and read or listen to them on your device. We’ll also share tips & tricks to get the most of our app!
Drop-in Star Wars Craft | Thursday, May 4th from 3:00 – 6:00 PM: Stop by the library to make a Yoda Ears Headband, design your own paper droid, and play with some Jabba the Hutt playdough. No registration. For ages 3 – 7.
Parachute Explorations | Friday, May 5th | 10:30 -11:00 AM: Join us on the first Friday of the month for a special program for kids 2 – 5 years. Kids and caregivers will work together as we sing songs and manipulate the parachute. This program reinforces fine motor skills, following directions, and early literacy practices through singing and playing. No registration. Ages 2 – 5.
Family Art Exploration | Sunday, May 7th at 1:00 PM: This low-key introduction to famous artists exposes participants to a little bit of art history and a lot of freedom to express themselves. This month we’ll learn about Collage Animals inspired by Clare Young. For kids, teens, and adults.
Graphic Novel Book Club | Sunday, May 7th at 2:30 PM: Our May book is Ride On by Faith Erin Hicks. Every month, we’ll read a graphic novel and then get together at the library to chat about the book, play games, and flex our creative brains. For kids in grades 3 – 5.
Healthy Land, Healthy Food, Healthy People Series: Healing Ourselves and the Planet, One Meal at a Time| Monday, May 8th at 6:30 PM: Dr. Marybeth Carlberg & Dr. Steven Duffy will discuss why it is now recognized that avoiding meat and dairy is perhaps the single biggest way to reduce your environmental impact on the planet.
Library Board Meeting | Tuesday, May 9th at 6:30 PM: The Library Board is made up of community members who volunteer their time and skills to further the mission of the library. All meetings are open, and the public is welcome to attend.
Cookbook Club: Mexican | Wednesday, May 10th at 6:00 PM: Our theme this month is Mexican!! Bring a prepared dish to share and the cookbook/recipe that inspired the dish. Everyone will have a chance to sample dishes from an assortment of cookbooks while only having to prepare one dish. Make sure you come hungry! Registration required.
Morning Book Club: The Maid| Monday, May 15th at 10:30 AM: Join us on the 3rd Monday of every month to chat books! Come every month or just for the books that interest you most. Participants have the option to join the discussion either in-person at the library or virtually via Zoom.
This month we’re reading The Maid by Nita Prose, a heartwarming mystery with a loveable one-of-a-kind heroine who will steal your heart.
Guitar Concert: Lynn McGrath| Saturday, May 20th at 7:30 PM: Classical guitarist Lynn McGrath is being heralded as a phenom. Blending expressive musicianship with her passion for Spanish Language, literature, and theater, she has shared the poetry and music of “Platero y yo” with audiences on 4 continents in the role of both guitarist and theatrical narrator. She has brought the poetry of Nobel laureate Juan Ramón Jiménez to life for diverse audiences that have included children in a Peruvian orphanage to classical guitar connoisseurs.
Evening Book Club: Whisper Network | Wednesday, May 31st at 6:30 PM: It’s easy to join our book clubs! Come every month or just for the books that interest you most. Meetings are casual and everyone is welcome. The Evening Book Club meets the last Wednesday of the month. Participants have the option to join the discussion either in-person at the library or virtually via Zoom.
This month we’re reading Whisper Network by Chandler Baker, a twisty, propulsive whodunit with insights about what it is to be a woman today.

Baby Bounce & Rhyme | Wednesdays at 9:15 AM: Bond with your baby during this program featuring nursery rhymes, books, movement and fingerplays, followed by playtime. For babies up to 18 months.
Read, Sing, Play Story Time | Thursdays at 10:30 AM: Can’t sit still? No problem! Join us for stories, songs and movement. For ages 18 months – 4 years.
