On Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 11 a.m., Peregrine Senior Living recognized World Alzheimer’s Day at their assisted living and memory care communities across New York State. Among these communities is the Athenaeum in Skaneateles.
Residents and staff walked in unison around their buildings to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s disease.
This event is in unity and anticipation of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s, affording those afflicted an opportunity to lead the way.
“Many of our residents, for a variety of reasons, are not able to participate in local Alzheimer’s walks,” said Stephen Bowman, president of Peregrine Senior Living, “Peregrine understands that our residents are the true ambassadors of World Alzheimer’s Day, and this event provides them a symbolic way to raise awareness and pass the torch to the rest of us.”
There are currently over six million Americans afflicted by Alzheimer’s and approximately 44 million people worldwide, but presently no cure on the horizon.
Peregrine Senior Living strives to revolutionize our care models by helping our loved ones maintain a connection with themselves and their families through their long-term memories.
This program is called the Peregrine Way. Peregrine Senior Living operates eight long term care communities throughout Upstate New York, in the Albany, Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo areas.
