Around 8 this morning, Town of Manlius Police responded to the Tops Friendly Market at 119 W. Seneca St. for a report of a knife-wielding man acting erratically.
Upon arrival, officers encountered Ben Nosovitch, who was sitting on a bench in the front of the store. At this time, Nosovitch was still waving the knife around and talking to himself.
Police said Nosovitch made several aggressive moves toward officers but did not threaten anyone. He was taken into custody after the deployment of less-than-lethal impact munitions.Nosovitch sustained minor injuries during the encounter and was subsequently transported to an area hospital for further evaluation.
This was not his first interaction with the police.
“We hope he will get the help that he needs,” Manlius Police Chief Michael Crowell said.
