FAIRMOUNT — The Fairmount Community Library, located at 406 Chapel Drive is excited to kick off summer reading for families with a special Storywalk at Camillus Park on Friday, June 25 at 10 a.m.
A Storywalk is a fun way for children and adults to enjoy reading outdoors. Laminated pages from a children’s book are attached to stakes along an outdoor path and offer a fun reading opportunity while you stroll along and follow the pages of the story.
The Storywalk will be located at Camillus Park and we’re reading the delightful children’s book, The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. The book will be printed in both English and Spanish for all readers to enjoy. Fairmount Community Library staff will be there along with Gruffalo snacks, booklets, Summer Reading fliers, stickers, prizes, and activities for all who participate! This is our first party of the summer and a great way for our families to avoid the summer slide and to encourage reading all summer long.
“We are excited to kick off our summer reading and summer learning program with this special event for families,” said Brenda Shea, director of the Fairmount Community Library. “All families who attend will enjoy a magical walk through the woods and go home with a packet of information and tools to help their kids continue the process of learning throughout the summer months.”
The Storywalk will remain at Camillus Park until July 25.
Guests can also view this special Storywalk on our Youtube channel at tinyurl.com/fclvideos as Miss Karen records her walk and reads The Gruffalo to FCL families.
The Fairmount Community Library is open to the public. Library hours are Monday through Thursday from 11 to 7 p.m. Friday from 11 to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 2 p.m.
