OTISCO — Otisco Lake Preservation Association (OLPA) and the re-energized Otisco Lake Community Association (OLCA) are combining to plan an Earth Day Clean-up & Open House event on Saturday April 24 beginning at 9 a.m.
For the last eight years OLPA has coordinated an Earth Day event with support by the local chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS).
The cleanup will kick off the day, as volunteers can walk along the street picking up trash from the winter months , protecting it from tainting the watershed and possibly entering the lake.
This year, as OLCA expands its programs, the OLPA cleanup will be combined with an open house at the Otisco Lake Community Center.
Programs to be offered along with a meet and greet with the new board will be the highlights of the open house.
Once again this year, the ACS is sponsoring a pizza lunch after the cleanup.
Pizza will be supplied by the Moondance Restaurant, in Marietta.
Volunteers will gather at 9 a.m. at the Community Center so teams for the cleanup can be formed. Cleanup will begin at 9:30 a.m. and run until about 11:30.
The group will then meet back at the Community Center for lunch and the meet and greet with the new Community Association board.
All are welcome.
Garbage bags and reflective vests will be provided for volunteers.
It is recommended that volunteers bring gloves and any tools they believe they may need for the cleanup.
All garbage collected will be delivered to an OCCRA location for disposal.
