This afternoon, at the daily press conference, NYS Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the continuation and extension of “pause” (previous Executive Order) until April 29, 2020.
In order to further promote the need for social distancing, school property (including playgrounds) will remain closed through April 29, 2020.
Also today, at the NYS Board of Regents meeting, Chancellor Rosa announced that the June Regents exams are cancelled. Additional guidance on this matter will be released soon. Updates will be forwarded at that time.
West Genesee Superintendent David C. Bills also announced the following supports are available, as included in previous communication:
Food
We will continue a delivery system for those requesting and receiving support. The District is still accepting requests. Our next delivery is scheduled for April 13, 2020 and is planned for 5 days of meals. For inquiry or sign-up, please contact [email protected]. For information and updates on food distribution, click here.
Child Care
If you are a parent or caregiver who needs child care, particularly serving children of essential workers, please complete this parent need for child care survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/
Based on the information you provide about your job, employer, number of children, and financial need, the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) may be able to help you find the child program you need. It may be a challenge to find child care due to COVID-19 related program closures, however the staff members at OCFS are trying their best to support families to find the high quality child care that they need.
Learning
The approach of instructional delivery will continue to include asynchronous learning, landing pages of learning experiences, and in-time connections through technology. Click here to access the Online Learning Portal.
If you are in need of technology support please contact: [email protected].
Thank you to everyone in our community with a particular emphasis on all health care workers (hospital personnel, Emergency Medical Technicians, Ambulance Corp, Mental health providers, and many more), during this very difficult time.
