United Church of Fayetteville responds to F-M Food Pantry plea
During the COVID-19 virus pandemic the F-M Food Pantry must temporarily suspend food donations until further notice.
They have requested that their supporters consider monetary donations instead of non-perishable drives that are now impossible to hold.
This will help the pantry enhance their purchasing power with their primary food source, the Food Bank of CNY.
They can then control their inventory and also eliminate the need for volunteers to shop in stores for non-perishable donations to bring to the pantry or to their churches that are temporarily closed.
This leaves those already limited assets on the shelves at grocery stores for other community folks who can afford to buy their own.
United Church of Fayetteville and its Steeple Coffee house have been contributing supporters of the F-M Food Pantry through donations of funds, food, clothes, White Christmas and detergent drives as well as volunteering their time to clean, replace floors, paint, stock and organize food and clothes.
Its adults and youth have contributed time at Mathew 25 Farm to glean fresh vegetables for the Pantry also.
The UCF Steeple Coffee House, offering Sammy-award-winning musicians and groups who perform originals and covers with styles ranging from Indie to blue grass to contemporary folk to favorites to jazz along with desserts and coffee or tea to the community at least twice monthly, has also vowed to support community.
With the pandemic the needs at the Pantry require funds to help purchase food through the Food Bank of CNY and the UCF Outreach Committee and Board voted to immediately donate $5,500.
UCF thanks the many 2019 and early 2020 musicians who played and sang at their concerts, its audiences and those members and friends who donated their time to bake and help at the many concerts and thanks the Eagle Bulletin for its publicity.
The church recognizes how important it is to join together to provide music and raise funds for their neighbors. UCF Pastor, Rev. Dr. Linda Even, and neighbor, Trinity Episcopal Rector, The Rev. Dr. Renee Tembeckjian, ask that we all keep the F-M Food Pantry in our efforts to raise funds as “we are called to feed the hungry…and sometimes the hungry live right next door!”
