Maxwell Library hosts CNY Photographers in December
CNY Photographers MeetUp Group will present an exhibition of photographs produced by several of its members at Maxwell Memorial Library in Camillus from through 27.
CNY Photographers is a group of photo enthusiasts from the Central New York area that meets once a month for a class and sharing session.
Group members’ photography skill levels range from absolute beginner through professional. As a group, there is one common goal: to make photographs for the sheer enjoyment of photography. Everyone in the group is happy to share ideas and help other members with any photographic questions they may have.
The month-long gallery show at Maxwell Library consists of photographs from several CNY Photographers members, including Sandi Cannellos, Raven Cornellius, Joe Cosentino, Tracey Green, Debbie Gunther, Lisa Hackley, Anne Marie Hayden, Michael Herd, Wyatt Kyle, Sue Morison, Sandi Patnode, and Janet Polech. The selected works illustrate that CNY Photographers is a diverse group encompassing many photographic genres. Each member of the group has a photographic specialty. Some shoot casual lifestyle photos around the house while others will spend a night out capturing the Milky Way in all its grandeur. Most photograph birds, landscapes, horses, people, community events and sunsets.
CNY Photographers meets every third Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Liverpool.
The monthly meetings consist of a photo-sharing session where members can show a few recent photographs they have taken, followed by a discussion and sharing of recent photo news or quick photo tips.
Every month there is an instructional discussion of a single photography-related topic.
These instructional classes range from lectures to hands-on mini-workshops. Besides the monthly meeting, the group conducts photo outings on a regular basis for practicing and developing new photographic skills. With over 50 members, half of whom regularly participate in the meetings and photo outings, there is a wealth of great photography expertise waiting to be shared.
The public is cordially invited to an opening reception at Maxwell Memorial Library on Thursday, Dec. 5, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
