CNY Trap League, Week 18, Aug. 13, 2019: Week 18 was a rematch with Pompey, who we were still 2 team points ahead of for the Southern Division title. Pompey showed up on their fields and performed very well, boarding ten 25s and twenty two 24s. Skaneateles also went all out, boarding thirteen 25s and twelve 24s. Max team score is 200 so it was a tie, leaving Skaneateles in the division lead, 32 to 30. Shooting 25s for Skaneateles were Jon Ricklefs, with his first league 25, Pete Kehoskie, Dick Treat, Dennis Pickering, Chad Landon, Frank Bozeat, KC Sims and Don Flanagan. Jim Fellows, Steve Schreiber, Al Reich and Len Kallfelz ran 50 and Heidi Womer reached 75 straight. We have two more weeks in the regular season before the shoot off which will be at Pathfinder on September 8th.
Rifle: On Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, at 0900, six rifle shooters met at our range to fire the regular weekly rifle match. The temperature was 61 and 91% humidity with wet gray overcast skies, rain at times and a very light breeze in the treetops. It was 81 with 68% humidity and by the end. Course of fire is 10 shots slow fire prone, 10 shots rapid fire prone, 10 shots slow fire standing.
The following fired rifles that are used in the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) course of fire and are in the medal score category: High Score was Dave Spearing. He had a CMP gold medal score. He fired a 7.5X55 K31 Swiss and scored 97-2X’s+94-1X+91-1X=282-4X’s. John Bay fired a .30 cal. M1 Garand and scored 90-1X+83 +61=234-1X.
The following fired other rifles with open sights: High Score was Chuck Chernoff. He fired a .223 cal. Rock River and scored 96-3X’s+94-1X+89=279-4X’s. Mark Walker fired a .223 cal. and scored 95-2X’s+94-1X+77=266-3X’s.
The following fired other rifles with scopes: High Score was Chuck Cargile. He fired a .17 cal. Rimfire with a scope and scored 99-4X’s+95-2X’s+69=263-6X’s. Craig Cargile fired a .243 cal. with a scope and scored 92+79-1X+81=252-1X.
After the match, seven went to the excellent Willow Glen Café for beverages. Dick Cyphers joined us. Lynn served drinks and Mark Walker paid the tab, every one thanked them both.
CNY Trap League, Week 17, August 6, 2019: Week 17 was another win at home for Skaneateles. This time we defeated Three Rivers with a score of 200 to 173. The team showed up in force again and shot extremely well. Shooting 25s were Steve Schreiber, Al Reich, Jim Fellows, John Stanley, Rich Bobbett, Len Kallfelz, Gary Wood and Phil Ricklefs. Running 50 was Bruce Card. Jim Dries ran 100 and Patty Logan kept up her run with 125 straight!!
Rifle: On Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019, at 0900, five rifle shooters met at our range to fire the regular weekly rifle match. The temperature was 72 and 82% humidity with clear sunny skies and a very light breeze in the treetops. It was 79 with 65% humidity by the end. Course of fire is 10 shots slow fire prone, 10 shots rapid fire prone, 10 shots slow fire standing.
The following fired rifles that are used in the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) course of fire and are in the medal score category: High Score was Chuck Chernoff who had a CMP bronze medal score. He fired a .30 cal. US M1903-A3 and scored 95-2X’s+95-4X’s+77=267-6X’s. Dave Spearing fired a .30 cal. M1 Carbine and scored 85+92+70=247. Joe Brillo fired a 7.62X54R Finish Mosin-Nagant M39. He only had 15 rounds with him to fire and try to sight in (no score).
The following fired other rifles with open sights: High Score was Mike Gentile who fired a .223 cal. and scored 90-1X+83+67=240-1X.
The following fired other rifles with scopes: High Score was John Bay who fired a.22 cal. Rimfire and scored 91+84+60=235.
After the match, four went to the excellent Willow Glen Café for beverages. Renee served drinks and Mike Gentile paid the tab, every one thanked them both.
CNY Trap League, Week 16, July 30, 2019: Week 16 saw Skaneateles overpower Bridgeport at home with a score of 200 to 196. Congratulations to KC Sims for his first league 25! In all there were twelve 25s. In addition to KC there were Dave Bean, Don Flanagan, Bruce Card, Nate Perkins, Dennis Pickering, Sky Graham, and Zach Bobbett. Running 50 were Tom Main and Heidi Womer. Jim Dries ran 75 and Patty Logan ran 100! In addition to the 25s we had seventeen 24s on the board as well. Great shooting by the home team!
Rifle: On Saturday, July 27, 2019, at 0900, five rifle shooters met at our range to fire the regular weekly rifle match. The temperature was 72 and 76% humidity with clear sunny skies and a very light breeze in the treetops. It was 82 with 58% humidity and by the end. Course of fire is 10 shots slow fire prone, 10 shots rapid fire prone, 10 shots slow fire standing.
The following fired rifles that are used in the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) course of fire and are in the medal score category: High Score was Dave Spearing, who had a CMP gold medal score. He fired a 6.5X55 Swedish Mauser and scored 98-4X’s+98+85=281-4X’s.
The following fired other rifles with open sights: High Score was Chuck Chernoff. He fired a .223 cal. Rock River and scored 96-2X’s+94+80=270-2X’s.
The following fired other rifles with scopes: High Score was John Bay. He fired a .243 Cal. Savage with a scope 96-1X+96-3X’s +70=262-4X’s. Chuck Cargile fired a .17 cal. Hornet with a scope and scored 100-6X’s+100-5X’s+60=260-11X’s. Gil Holm fired a .223 cal. with a scope (one round only, was having shoulder problems) and scored 100-5X’s.

CNY Trap League, Week 15, July 23, 2019: Week 15 was a great week for Skaneateles. We shot against Dewitt on our home fields and won 200 to 196. The weather was perfect and we scored 15 perfect 25s and almost as many 24s! Phil Ricklefs, Tom Main, Pete Kehoskie, Rich Bobbett, Heidi Womer, Steve Schreiber and Chad Landon each had 25. Bill Main, Len Kallfelz, John Stanley and Jim Dries ran 50. Frank Bozeat, Pat Logan and Al Reich ran 75, and Mike Rice hit his 4th week in a row, running 100! Awesome night!

The temperature was 79 and 87% humidity with light gray overcast skies and a slight breeze in the treetops none at ground level. It was 84 with 74% humidity and partly cloudy by the end. Course of fire is 10 shots slow fire prone, 10 shots rapid fire prone, 10 shots slow fire standing.
