The Cazenovia Village Police Department, in conjunction with the Cazenovia Lake Association, are offering a Boating Safety Course. The New York State Parks-approved course will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, at the village hall boardroom and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 29, in the village board room.
The free course is eight hours in length and attendance at both sessions is required. Anyone age 10 and older may attend.
Since 2014, New York State law requires that all individuals born on or after May 1, 1996 are required to successfully complete an approved course in boater education in order to operate a motorboat. Approved courses include those offered by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, New York State Parks or the U.S. Power Squadrons.
New York residents of any age who are operating personal watercraft are also required to have the course.
Contact Village Deputy Clerk Sue Dady at [email protected] or 315-655-3276 ext. 3 to reserve a place in the class.
