The Auburn Chamber Orchestra opens its 31st season on Friday, October 27 at 7:30 pm with Music Inspires Art at the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, 6877 E. Lake Road, Auburn. This concert is a treat for the eyes as well as the ears, featuring artwork from the ages, art created by students of teachers Jacqueline Webster and Tim Amory of Southern Cayuga Cental Schools, and artwork created live at the concert! Each piece selected by director Steven Frackenpohl has a connection to artwork, real or imagined. Music will span the centuries from Bach’s Fugue in G Minor to the 19th century Romantics Rachmaninoff, Gliere, Debussy, and Mussorgsky, to Copland’s 20th century “Outdoor Overture”. As a fun and fitting finale, local artist Tim Amory will improvise a painting live for the audience during Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition” as you “promenade” through the museum of your imagination. In addition, we will be raffling off a Mackenzie-Childs piece after intermission! A $5 donation is suggested at the door. You help live music thrive in Auburn, New York!
