A new website has been launched that will allow Cazenovia area residents to learn about and register for local recreational opportunities and activities.
Cazenovia RecDesk (cazenovia.recdesk.com) — developed through collaboration between the Town of Cazenovia, Village of Cazenovia, Joint Youth Recreation Program, Project CAFÉ, Common Grounds, the Cazenovia Area Community Development Association (CACDA) and interested community members — offers residents a portal through which to find out about a variety of local activities such as youth sports, adult exercise classes, children’s activities, senior activities, book clubs, lectures, movies, concerts and more.
“We are blessed with a tremendous number of organizations that offer a wide variety of activities,” said Common Grounds Director and RecDesk coordinator Kelli Johnson. “This program will help people to better navigate through the opportunities available and connect with the activities they seek. There is even a mobile application that will allow users to access RecDesk from a smart phone. This virtual community center provides one place for information about all local activities.”
For certain activities, such as the summer youth recreation program, registration can be completed directly through RecDesk and soon payments will be accepted through the site. Other activities are listed with dates, times and information on how to register.
The RecDesk site is in the initial phases of development and project organizers are seeking feedback from local organizations. If anyone knows of an organization whose programs are not currently included, contact Kelli Johnson at [email protected]. Organizations can request to add their own activities to the site or may sign up to receive monthly reminders to submit information.
Community members are encouraged to visit the site, explore the programs available and check back often for updates to the master calendar. Also, by creating a profile for family members, residents can easily register for certain programs through RecDesk.
This project is possible through funding from the Common Grounds Challenge Grant, Project CAFÉ (through a grant from Oneida Savings/Community Bank) and the Common Grounds Committee. Project coordination has been provided by CACDA and the Joint Youth Recreation Program.
