Summer winding down, but the fun won’t stop
On behalf of Marcellus Parks & Recreation, we would like to thank our staff and the community for another terrific summer. We would also like to express our gratitude to the Marcellus Central School District for allowing the use of their buildings for our numerous programs. We would not be able to run successful programming without the support of the community!
Even though the summer is coming to an end, doesn’t mean that the fun has to stop! We are offering a Fall Gymnastics Camp from September to October. If your child(ren) enjoyed the summer program, don’t hesitate to register because this fun after-school camp is very popular. The cost of this camp is $80 per child; they will receive a t-shirt and instruction for former Varsity Coach Sarah Cox of the Marcellus Gymnastics Team. For children entering grades 1-2 in the fall, the camp will run Tuesdays from Sept. 20-Oct.18 from 3:15-4:30 p.m. For older children in grades 3-6, the camp will be on Thursdays from Sept. 22-Oct. 20 from 3:15-5:00 p.m. The camp will be held in the KCH gym.
The last bingo trip we are offering for this year is on Monday, Oct. 17. For $18/person, we will travel to the Turning Stone Casino in Oneida, NY; receive $15 in Bingo Bucks to use as you choose, and a $5 meal coupon. A Gambling Package is available for those individuals who do not want to play Bingo. Our bus leaves at 8:30 a.m. and returns approximately 5 p.m. The bus will depart from the Village Municipal Parking Lot behind St. Francis Catholic Church. Registration forms are available at the Town Hall or you can call the office for more information.
We have two more adult trips this year. Come join us on Wednesday, October 19th for the New Marcy Downey Show “Swinging through the 40’s with Marcy.” After arriving in Albion, NY, we will enjoy a guided tour of the Cobblestone Museum. There is a one room schoolhouse, blacksmith shop, print shop, harness shop, and farmers’ hall (three buildings are not handicapped accessible). See what it was like to live in the 1800s and early 1900s. Next, we will listen as Marcy sings the greatest hits of the Andrew Sisters, Frank Sinatra, Glenn Miller, Billie Holiday, and many more! She also does a signature comic stamp with funny stories and comedy characters. After the show, we will stop at the Watts Country Farm for shopping on your own. The cost of this trip is $70 and includes transportation, lunch, guided tour of the museum and show. The deadline for this trip is September 12th. Spots are filling up quickly!
Who else is excited for Christmas yet? We are! On Wednesday, November 30th we are traveling to The Beeches in Rome, NY where we will enjoy a dinner theater. After an all-you-can-eat Christmas buffet, we will enjoy “Christmas in the Fifties” that will take you back in time to when Sputnik appeared in the sky. This full day trip will leave you in the spirit of this holiday season. This cost of this trip is $65 per person and the deadline to register is October 21st. We would love to see you there!
