Madison County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a serious single car motor vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 7:20 p.m. Thursday evening on Fenner Road, between Shephards Road and Davis Road in the Town of Fenner.
According to the sheriff’s office, a sedan heading eastbound on Fenner Road crashed after its front tire left the pavement and onto a gravel shoulder. The vehicle rolled up onto a guardrail and came to rest into several trees adjacent to the guard rail.
The driver of the vehicle, Danielle Aubrey, 17, of Granville, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Upstate Hospital in Syracuse by ambulance. The passenger, a 15-year-old male, sustained serious injuries and was taken to University Hospital by helicopter. The 15-year-old passenger required extensive extrication from the vehicle.
Speed was a contributing factor to the accident, according to the sheriff’s office. Alcohol and cell phone use were not factors. Both driver and passenger were wearing seat belts.
Cazenovia Fire Department and Rescue, Cazenovia Area Volunteer Ambulance, Mercy Flight and Cazenovia Village Police assisted on the scene.
