Long Branch Elementary has had to postpone its Community Playground Build.
The volunteer event, originally scheduled for Friday, Aug. 28, and Saturday, Aug. 29, has been postponed because the site contractor is in the hospital.
“If you signed up to volunteer this Friday or Saturday, please do not show up,” the PTCO wrote in a Facebook post Thursday. “As soon as we find out when the playground build will be rescheduled, we will let everyone know.”
The playground project has been a community effort since it began two years ago, when it became clear that the aging structure, which wasn’t accessible for the school’s special needs students, needed to be replaced. The PTCO raised money to purchase and build a new structure. Volunteers were set to install the new playground this weekend under the guidance of construction professionals.
The PTCO still hopes to build the playground before school starts. For more information, email [email protected] or visit tinyurl.com/nh6v6qh. The Star-Review will post an update as soon as it’s available.
