Cazenovia Town Clerk Connie Sunderman would like to remind Cazenovia residents and visitors that the town has resumed selling hunting and fishing licenses on July 1 after an 18-month hiatus. Licenses may be purchased at the town office at 7 Albany St. during regular business hours, which are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. A driver’s license is required.
The town, which previously sold such licenses, voted to stop their sale from the town office, effective Jan. 1, 2014, after the state Department of Environmental Conservation, the sponsoring agency, switched to a new e-licensing system that the town board deemed too expensive. The town board decided at the time that because of the numerous other municipalities and licensing agents in and around the Cazenovia area, to discontinue license sales at the town office would not be an inconvenience to local residents.
Two months ago, the town board voted to resume the sale of hunting and fishing licenses “to help the public so they don’t have to go someplace else,” Town Supervisor Bill Zupan said at the time.

The Cazenovia town office also is offering free mosquito treatments for homeowners and farmers as part of an ongoing effort to raise awareness of the Eastern equine encephalitis virus (EEE) virus. The free samples of larvicide can be used to treat contained water, killing larvae that may contain the EEE virus.
Madison County residents can pick up their free larvicide kits at the Cazenovia town office, 7 Albany Street or call the Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District at 824-9849 for other pickup locations.
