The Jamesville Fire Department celebrated 100 years of service on June 14 at an outdoor event at the fire station with a chicken barbecue, live music, inflatables, carnival games and tours of the fire department and fire apparatus.
“It’s a good way to get the community together,” said Jamesville Fire Chief Bill Johnson. “One hundred years is a long time to be around and it shows we have been a service for many years.”
Music was provided by local show and dance band “Timeline” and inflatable bounce houses and slides were provided by Air Time Inflatables.
In addition to the fun and games, a volunteer recruitment table was set up, which is an important aspect to the fire department, said Johnson.
Currently, there are more than 30 volunteer members of the Jamesville Fire Department. Volunteering jobs range from assisting with fire fighting to clerical work, so many people can get involved if they have the desire to, said Johnson.
