With a CNY Counties League National division regular-season title secured,, the Cicero-North Syracuse girls track and field teams is ready for the next phase that starts with Thursday’s league meet at Baldwinsville’s Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium.
Before that, though, the girls Northstars improved to a perfect 5-0 on the season by going to Sunnycrest Field last Tuesday and dismantling the Henninger Black Knights in a 94-26 decision.
Shayla Webb won twice for C-NS, going 14 feet 9 inches in the long jump and 29’1” in the triple jump. Nicole Herringshaw threw the discus 83 feet, with Destiny Monica heaving the shot put 34’10”.
On the oval, Brittany House was victorious in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:14.9, while Madison Gross took the 1,500-meter run in 5:29.0 and Haley Pestle took the 3,000-meter run in 12:53.0.
Cheyanna Colin beat the field in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.2 seconds. C-NS also swept the 4×100 (55.3 seconds), 4×400 (4:26.2) and 4×800 (12:22.0) relays as Nina Marullo, Taylor Parry, Mia Pestle, Jilliann Norris, Kaitlyn Anderson, McKenna Bradford, Brianna Cereske, Sydney Florcyzk, Kirsten Dunn, Lakin Hibbard, Courtney Mahan and Kayla Scaralla took part.
The boys meet was even more lopsided, C-NS (who had won the John Arcaro Invitational at B’ville on May 8) routing Henninger 130-11 as Ed Mahana got it moving through his wins in the 110 high hurdles (16.3 seconds) and 400 hurdles (1:00.3), plus a top triple jump of 39’5”.
Matt Kilian also won a pair of sprints, taking the 100 (11.9 seconds) and 200 (24.2 seconds), with Allen Garnes taking the 400 sprint in 54.6 seconds. Jack Dehm (800, 2:09.3), Andrew Bearkland (mile, 4:42.6) and Joe Tricarico (3,200-meter run, 10:55.10) swept the distance races.
George Reader unleashed a first-place long jump of 18’6 ¼”, with Mark Hentges clearing 12’6” in the pole vault. Ross Mathewson threw the discus 126’1” and Tyler Mosher tossed the shot put 44’4”.
During a sweep of the 4×100 (47.6 seconds), 4×400 (4:04.1) and 4×800 (10:47.8) relays, Garnes, Jared George, Zach Kennedy, Matt Williams, Billy Moore, Matt Romanyk, Ryan Massena, Eric Bowen, Jack Dehm, Evan Tracy and Cameron Verrette all took part.
