The Cazenovia Village Board of Trustees had a light and quick meeting last Monday, May 4, with no major items on the agenda.
At the meeting, the board:
—Heard from Mayor Kurt Wheeler that the Creekside Development District proposal outline, describing the potential commercial, residential and community uses that can be created in the Creekside zone, is in draft form, and the Creekside committee will meet again in May. He said the village board will probably schedule a public input/information session on the proposal sometime in June.
—Approved the request of the Cazenovia Preservation Foundation to hold its “Walk Among the Spirits” event on Oct. 24, 26 and 27 in Evergreen Cemetery this year.
—Scheduled its end of fiscal year meeting for 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, in the second floor meeting room in the village office.
—Approved the annual inter-municipal agreement with the town of Cazenovia for shared usage of the Lakeside Park boat launch. Under the agreement, the town pays the village a flat fee of $10,000, which allows town resident free boat permits for the launch.
—Announced that the village boat launch is open for the season, as are the public restrooms in Lakeland and Lakeside parks. The Lakeland Park pier also was repaved last week to fix cracks and heaves that had developed during the winter.
—Heard from Trustee Amy Mann that the village contract with L.L. Bean to allow the company to hold its Outdoor Discovery Schools in Lakeland Park again in 2015 is currently in the works. In addition to kayaking courses, L.L. Bean plans to add flyfishing and stand-up paddleboarding classes in Cazenovia, Mann said.
