At around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, the Manlius Police Department responded to an accident involving a vehicle striking a pedestrian at the intersection of Route 92 and Route 173 in the village of Manlius.
Captain Kevin Schafer said the accident was fatal and the male pedestrian victim, identified as Michael Muirhead, 66, of Manlius, was not transported to any medical facilities.
Manlius Police closed off all sections of the intersection and re-routed traffic to conduct their investigation after responding to the incident.
The operator of the vehicle that struck Muirhead was a 57-year-old male of Parish, who was not injured and has not been ticketed.
At around 11 a.m., the eastbound lanes were reopened for vehicles. At 2 p.m., Manlius police completed their on-scene investigation and traffic near the scene was no longer being re-routed.
Manlius police said they are continuing investigation of the incident and believe there may have been a witness to the accident who was stopped in westbound traffic on Franklin Street at the time of the collision. Police ask anyone who may have been a witness to this incident to call the Manlius Police Department at 682-2212.
