When the Baldwinsville ice hockey team takes the ice Dec. 29 at Ithaca, it will attempt to complete a month where it defeated all six of its opponents and moved to the top of the standings in the Division I National Conference.
Having outscored its opponents by a 30-5 margin while winning five consecutive games, the Bees ran that win streak to five Friday night by going to Kennedy Arena in Rome and pulling away from the Mohawk Valley Raiders in an 8-1 decision.
Mohawk Valley had still not won a game entering the night, and B’ville wasn’t about to let the 0-2-1 Raiders get comfortable, even if it was playing its first game away from Lysander since that 3-2 overtime defeat to Cicero-North Syracuse in the Carrier Dome back on Nov. 21.
A steady opening period gave B’ville a 2-0 lead, and it kept pulling further away from there, seeing 10 different players pick up at least one point by game’s end, with six different goal-scorers.
But it was Adam Tretowicz leading the way, picking up two goals and three assists, while Matt Abbott also scored twice, but only had one assist.
Alex Paterson-Jones stepped up, earning a goal and two assists. Joe Glamos, Charlie Bertrand and Kyle Lindsay each picked up one goal and one assist, with Carson Hayes, Andrew Starrentino, Ben Dwyer and Charlie McAllister adding one assist apiece.
Aside from the Ithaca game, B’ville also travels to hot-starting New Hartford Jan. 2 before Division I play resumes Jan. 6 with a visit from Fayetteville-Manlius.
