Saab Sensis Corporation President Ken Kaminski has resigned from his position and the company has recently announced a restructuring in their air traffic management sector, which will eliminate 27 jobs at their DeWitt based headquarters.
Saab Sensis is a global company that specializes in radar and passive sensors for airport surveillance and air defense. Their global headquarters are located on Collamer Crossings Parkway in East Syracuse.
Dave Kovarik, vice president of Saab Sensis’ marketing, sales and strategy group, said the company does not typically provide the headcount of employees in their DeWitt location.
Kovarik said the company is not doing any interviews regarding the restructuring but was able to provide a press release that gave more information about the changes.
“As a result of continued challenging business environments in both domestic and international markets and Saab’s continuous work towards greater efficiency, Saab’s U.S. Air Traffic Management business will undergo a restructuring over the next month which will result in a reduction of our workforce,” the statement said.
This restructuring will result in 27 jobs at the DeWitt headquarters being eliminated and “a number of employees” transitioning to other positions within Saab Sensis Corporation.
The company said, “This is necessary in order to balance our capacity with our current and anticipated backlog. The restructuring will enable the company to grow in the short term and become more competitive in the market in the long term so we can continue to provide the solutions and affordability our customers expect.”
In addition to these revisions in the structure of the company, Mike Gerry has been named the president and general manager after Kaminski’s resignation in early November.
