New York State Police officers have announced the “domestic incident” on East Lake Road that has kept the road closed off all day was a homicide.
Amy Bradstreet, age 44, was found deceased inside her residence at 4481 East Lake Road earlier today. Troopers have arrested Stephen Schumejda, age 31, who lived with the victim for Murder 2nd degree, Assault 1st degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree committed during a domestic incident.
The New York State Police, assisted by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the Village of Cazenovia Police, are continuing to investigate.
No other details of the crime or the investigation have been released by police.
The news broke late this morning that state police vehicles had blocked off a portion of East Lake Road from the high school to Wright Road. A section of road was taped off with yellow police tape in front of The East Cottage, a two-bedroom rental house located near the village line.
Police officials would release no information about the investigation, other than that there was a “domestic related incident” at 4481 East Lake Road in which “a female victim was located within the residence deceased” and “A male subject is currently being questioned by investigators.”
State Police Public Information Officer Jack Keller would offer no details. Cazenovia Police Chief Michael Hayes also said he could not comment on the current investigation.
