This Saturday marks the start of the 2014 Cazenovia Farmers market season, and patrons will have a wider variety of artisans and farmers to choose from than in previous years — including a number of vendors new to the Cazenovia market.
“We will have more than we did last summer,” said Aileen Randolph, co-owner of Empire Buffalo, who is the new farmers market manager. “What we’re trying to achieve is to have everything you need,” including cheese, butter, greens, more than one choice of meats, spirits and beer, jewelry vendors, coffee roasters and bread makers.
The first of the three market sessions begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at Canon Park on Albany Street. The sessions run May 10 to June 28, July 5 to Aug. 30 and Sept. 6 to Nov. 1.
There are approximately 20 vendors committed to be at the market for the first session, with another four set to join during the second session, Randolph said.
The location of the market will remain the same as it has been in years past, although there will be a slight change in the seller configuration as four additional spots will be created around the park’s canon and all the seller tents will be pulled together a little tighter, Randolph said.
In addition to the new spacing, there will also be new vendors in 2014, including two new distilleries, an aquaponic greens grower and a fiber farm from Fenner.
This year’s first session farmers and artisans currently include: Drover Hill Farm, Dizzy Lizzie’s Farm, Mountain Grown Farm, Simple Roast coffees, Hartwood Farm, Navarino Orchard, Spruce Ridge Landscaping and Design, Adirondack Distilling, Paradise Gardens, Empire Buffalo LLC, Caz Cut Block, Rise bread maker, Peanut Lane cold pressed juices, Three Village Cheeses, Meadowood Farms, Kriemhild Dairy, Frosty Morning Farms, Hyacinth jewelry, Fenner Alps Fiber Farm, Refresh, Dolly Honig jewelry, Primo and Mary Heritage Salsas and Two Kids Goat Farm.
“I think it’s going to be strong — we’re all local and it’s all good,” Randolph said.
