Everything for the Baldwinsville girls lacrosse team now worked itself toward its second shot at Class A favorite West Genesee on Friday night at Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium.
In its first game back in league play last Friday night, the Bees went to Auburn and were methodical as it pulled away for a 17-7 victory over the Maroons.
With each game, B’ville’s offense seems to improve, and it was in double figures by halftime against Auburn, leading 10-4 at the break and continuing to add to that advantage in the game’s latter stages.
Six different players scored multiple goals, led by Glory Johnson, who found the net four times and added three assists. Taylor Gebhardt and Alex Leo had matching three-goal efforts.
Andrea Walker kept pace with two goals and two assists, while Erin Nagle and Marjorie Dehm also scored twice. Mackenzie Porch had the other ogals.
B’ville, before all this, came back from its trip to Texas with a pair of victories, one of them a 15-0 rout over St. John’s Episcopal (Dallas), the other a hard-fought 11-9 victory over Hockaday, a school also based in the Dallas Area.
At halftime, Hockaday led the Bees, 7-5, but all through the second half B’ville’s defense did a tremendous job containing everything that Hockaday tried to establish.
Meanwhile, the attack remained steady, leading to a 6-2 finish. Gebhardt scored four times, adding an assist, while Dehm and Stephanie Roberts each got two goals. Walker gained a goal and two assists, with Johnson and Leo also scoring. Kylee Scott added an assist.
Aside from facing West Genesee again after the Wildcats beat both CBA and Garden City at its own tournament last week, the Bees would also visit Oswego on Tuesday night.
