A Syracuse man accused of killing two women Oct. 28 in Liverpool was indicted this month on counts of first- and second-degree murder and second-degree assault.
Justin A. Dallas, 26, of 119 Radisson Court, Syracuse is accused of stabbing his estranged wife, Brandy Dallas, 24, and his former girlfriend, Samantha Rainwater, 30, on the morning of Oct. 28, at 915 Second St., in the village of Liverpool.
Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh said a third woman who was at the scene that morning was pushed down a flight of stairs by Dallas.
The alleged murder weapon, a folding knife with a four- to six-inch blade, was recovered. Each of the homicide victims suffered multiple stab wounds, Walsh said.
The suspect fled the scene in a stolen car, but was soon apprehended by Liverpool Police Chief Don Morris and sheriff’s deputies Mike Quigley and Karen Munroe. After Dallas jumped into Onondaga Lake near the entrance to Onondaga Lake Park, the deputies and the chief pulled him from the water and placed him under arrest.
Dallas was originally charged with one count of first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
After an Onondaga County grand jury indicted Dallas this month, his lawyer, Thomas Ryan, indicated that he’ll consider invoking a defense of “extreme emotional disturbance.”
